Elevating Engineering: The Dynamo-Designed Seine River Bridge

Introduction:

Exploring the realm of dynamo structural components, I ventured beyond mere scripts, endeavoring to craft an entire functioning structure. My goal was clear: adopt a minimalist approach and curtail the number of necessary supports to the bare essentials.

Inspired by Architectural Marvels:

The visionary work of Engineer and Architect Santiago Calatrava has long been a wellspring of inspiration for me. The Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, designed by Calatrava, along with a kindred bridge adjacent to one of my high schools in Burnaby, B.C., left an indelible impression on me. It was there that I first beheld the marvel of structural engineering, and from that moment, I was captivated. This fascination ultimately led me to pursue Engineering at Western University in London, Canada.

A Code-Driven Creation:

Every element of this bridge, down to the finest detail, was meticulously crafted using #Dynamo components, each one born from lines of code, then seamlessly imported into #Revit as instances or structural members, depending on its category. This process was instrumental in my journey, providing a foundation to master data management in #Dynamo. Moving forward, my modeling endeavors will remain rooted in the world of code.

The Triumph of Structural Ingenuity:

In this maiden venture into structural and civil applications, the outcome exceeded even my own expectations. Multiple tension wires were strategically implemented on either side, precisely calibrated to maintain the ideal balance of tension and structural stability. This ingenious approach allowed for the distinctive raised curve to gracefully span the Seine River.

A Glimpse of Parisian Splendor:

For authenticity, I painstakingly recreated the surroundings of the river Seine in Paris, striving for precision in every detail. If you examine closely, you'll discern the traces of classical architecture and the majestic silhouette of a gothic cathedral gracing the background.

In Closing:

Thank you for joining me on this week's journey. I trust you found this account engaging. Should you have any queries or insights, I'm eager to hear them, be it regarding this project or potential future designs.
